Your Hosts

Greetings and welcome from your hosts Duncan and Jeerana Laing, owner-operators of Lotus Day Spa. Established in 2008 and offering a world-class Spa experience set amidst the beautiful private award-winning Swan Lake Gardens. 

Duncan and Jeerana's high standards and extensive business and spa therapy experience, make Swan Lake Gardens and Lotus Day Spa a world-class destination. Duncan is Christchurch born and in the construction industry owning Laing Technical which specialises in land remediation and reinforcement, as well as being the Managing Director of Lotus at Siam Ltd. The beautiful Swan Lake Gardens hold a special place in the Laing family having been in Duncan’s family since 1987. Jeerana, the Spa Director is a fully qualified Thai therapist having trained in Bangkok studying techniques based on strict Buddhist principles. Jeerana has completed to date 20 years of training and practical experience and 18,000 hours of therapy work. Jeerana has also worked at the Intercontinental Hotel in Bangkok for five years which was a professional highlight prior to managing Lotus Day Spa. Jeerana works hard with her team to ensure Lotus Day Spa is truly world-class. We look forward to seeing you.

We will treat our customers, with traditional old fashioned service and the utmost of respect, in accordance with ancient Thai traditions, mixed with New Zealand culture, where east meets west. Our team of service providers will deliver world class experiences at all times and we will train them in all respects. We will offer our customers, the best quality and value for money. The health and well being of our customers is important and we will use best practices to maintain their integrity, health and safety. The environment in which we work is an important part of our lives and we will respect it and maintain best practices at all times. Our staff are key to our organisation and are paid above the living wage and have excellent working conditions. We will continuously improve our practices and deliver excellence at all times. Health and Safety We are committed to providing a safe work place for our dedicated team and we care about their health. We run an active health and safety plan, as required under New Zealand law and we train our team. We continually monitor hazards and record all incidents. We care about our clients and to that end it is the job of everybody at our business to provide a safe and healthy environment for our clients. Employment Policy Our staff are key to our business. All our staff are paid well-above the living wage for NZ. We have rigorous staff selection polices at Lotus Day Spa. We require the “best of the best” in the specific professions of; (a) Massage Therapists, and (b) Beauty Therapists. In relation to Massage Therapists the recognised best level is Royal Thai Traditional Massage Trained Therapists. Our Massage Therapists must be qualified at Thai Traditional Massage Therapy Schools recognised by the Thai Government’s Ministry of Health where their skill base and experience is recognised worldwide. Our ELEMIS Skin Lab Beauty Therapists must have NZQA qualifications from a New Zealand or offshore equivalent that recognises the appropriate training of individuals for Lotus Day Spa specialist requirements.

My son and Daughter in law gave my daughter and I a voucher for our Birthdays for 1 and half hour massage at Lotus Day Spa and it was magical. From arrival we were treated wonderfully and had Tea before being taken for our massages.It was very special indeed.All staff were wonderful and this would be top of my list for a return visit and I would highly recommend Lotus as a wonderful place to relax and be pampered.
